Republic of Ireland and Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady has said that he wants to return to England after the end of his current contract with the Russian club. Aiden McGeady moved to the Russian club for around £ 10 million from Celtic two seasons ago. He currently has two more years left on his current contract. However, the Republic of Ireland winger has said that he is not looking at the possibility of extending his deal to the fact that he wants to return to playing in England soon. Aiden McGeady is one of the few British players who are currently plying their trade abroad.

He has also said that he does not want to discuss his future at the moment because he is concentrating on the Euro 2012 with the Republic of Ireland. Ireland have qualified for the major tournament for the first time in more than a decade. They are in the same group containing Spain and Italy, which does not put them as one of the favourites to qualify from the group. The 26-year-old winger has been linked with a reunion with Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill. He is expected to cost in upwards of £ 10 million, which could possibly rule him out for Sunderland.

“I am obviously settled there. I had a few issues a few months back, but I had a great end to the season. So I am happy there just now and have two years left in my contract. I still have ambitions to play in England or wherever. I wouldn’t want to stay there past my contract. Until Spartak put me up for sale or a team puts in a concrete bid for me, there’s nothing to think about,” said Aiden McGeady in response to the transfer speculation.
