MOSCOW MUST WORK HARDER

Evgeny Lovchev has said that Russian club Spartak Moscow should be working hard in order to improve a lot after they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Anzhi Makhachkala at the Luzhniki stadium. Anzhi Makhachkala are the new boys in the Russian Premier league, but they have spent heavily and have reaped the rewards of doing so. New manager Hiddink has been able to transform the fortunes of Anzhi Makhachkala, while Spartak Moscow are really struggling at the moment. Despite having the home advantage on their hands, Spartak Moscow lost the match 3-0, which is really poor according to Evgeny Lovchev.

The former Soviet Cup winner has said that the club deserved to lose the match by three goals, as they were extremely poor in both attacking and defending. As a result of this defeat, Spartak Moscow have slipped to the third position in the league. However, they are just one point behind Dynamo Moscow in the second position, which means that they can really look forward to getting into the second position if they string a run of results together. Spartak Moscow will be making the visit to CSKA Moscow during the weekend in what will turn out to be a season defining match for the former.

“The players should not only play well but they need to fight for a win until the end. I think they deserved the defeat because they were low, at least in terms of commitment. I think Spartak, who have proven their ability to operate at a certain limit of strength and to fight for a win until the end in previous meetings, have failed to prove this time around. Look at Zenit, they have pleased their audience with a stunning comeback,” said Evgeny Lovchev after the 3-0 defeat at the hands of Anzhi Makhachkala.
