Carrera proud of his players

Spartak Moscow coach Massimo Carrera said that he is proud of his players after the start to the season.

He said that his team is performing well at the moment and he will be hoping that this continue for a long time.

Indeed Spartak Moscow has beaten Rubin Kazan 1-0 in their last game and this was not an easy victory. Rubin is one of their closest challengers when it comes to the title and beating them gives Spartak Moscow a great psychological advantage in the championship.

At the same time this allows them to gather some confidence ahead of their Champions League game against Maribor. Massimo Carrera said that it has always been the ambition of Spartak Moscow to perform well in Europe and he will be hoping that they could win some games in this season tournament.

Former Premier League side Sunderland FC have confirmed the addition of two new signings in Aiden McGeady and James Vaughan. McGeady used to feature for the Toffees but he agreed to the move.

The Republic of Ireland forward signed a three year deal. The deal is believed to be in the region of £250,000.

The player has the experience of working with the coach Simon Grayson during his loan spell at Preston last term.

“Aiden’s career speaks volume. He’s been an exceptional payer and was an outstanding performer at Preston last season,” the coach said after the deal.

Russian club Spartak Moscow are set to lift their first title in 16 years after years of elusion.

They established a 10-point lead over their closest rival with the victory over Ural ahead of the tough fixture against CSKA Moscow in a city derby.

Spartak defeated FC Ural by the slimmest of margins as Luis Fernando scored in the 23rd minute. The win put Spartak’s title hopes back on track after they had slipped against Rostov. Massimo Carrera rejected Chelsea to take over Spartak Moscow

The head coach of Spartak Moscow Massimo Carrera has recently revealed that he rejected the managerial job was offered to him by the Premier League club Chelsea as the Italian tactician instead decided to become the permanent coach of Spartak Moscow.

“They Chelsea called me after the Euros. I was sure I could have gone to Chelsea with Conte, and I very much liked the idea, but this was something different.”

Back in 2016, Massimo Carrera was appointed as the assistant coach of Spartak Moscow but when Dmitri Alenichev opted to resign from his managerial position on August of 2016, Carrera went from being a caretaker manager to being a permanent coach.

According to reports in Ghanaian newspaper, the Russian powerhouse tabled an official bid that would see them secure the services of the 19-year-old Ghanaian defender from his parent club Azam FC.

The defender has been a subject of transfer war between various European clubs following impressive display and breathtaking performances for his East African based club.
