If rumors in the transfer market are anything to go by, then we can authoritatively tell you that Spartak Moscow has officially submitted a bid for Ghanaian sensational defender Daniel Amoh.
According to reports in Ghanaian newspaper, the Russian powerhouse tabled an official bid that would see them secure the services of the 19-year-old Ghanaian defender from his parent club Azam FC.
The defender has been a subject of transfer war between various European clubs following impressive display and breathtaking performances for his East African based club. With his magnificent displays so far, it’s easy to see why Spartak Moscow has entered the fray in a bid to acquire his services.
According to sources within AzamFC, Spartak Moscow has signified interest in the former Medeamaplayer, by tabling an unspecified bid for the center back. However, it is still unclear if Azam FC will let him go on the cheap considering he just signed with them this August. Nonetheless, with the mouth-watering deal offered by Spartak Moscow, it wouldn’t be long before the club decides to do business Continue reading
Antonio Conte took over at Chelsea in the summer and one of the surprising omissions from the backroom staff was Massimo Carrera.
The Italian was a major source of Conte’s success in the last five years.Carrera was the assistant manager to Conte when he was in charge of Juventus and the Italian national team. He was widely expected to follow suit at Chelsea, but he seemed to be left stranded in the summer. This led toCarrera’s unexpected move to Russian football with Spartak Moscow. Carrera took over a similar position with the Russian outfit and his career seemed to have come to a grinding halt.
Now, though,Carrerais not considered as one of the best managers in Russian football after managing to get Spartak Moscow – a mid-table outfit in the league that consists of heavy hitters like Zenit St Petersburg and CSKA Moscow – to the top of the table with some incredible results.Carrera has managed to get the club playing an attractive style of football which has also produced results. Spartak Moscow have managed to bring in Brazilian midfielder Fernando from Italian outfit Sampdoria for around € 13 million.
The 24-year-old will be a big addition for the Russian outfit and he will not need any time for acclimatisation after having been used to Eastern European football from his time at Shakhtar Donetsk. Fernando had joined the Sampdoria from Shakhtar Donetsk only last summer for around € 8 million. Hence, this transfer represents a neat little profit for the Italian club. After having come through the ranks at Gremio, Fernando Lucas Martins joined Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013.
He played at the Ukrainian club for a two years and made only 27 appearances before making the move to Sampdoria. Last season, he was one of the first-team regulars for the club and he racked up 33 appearances in the league alone while scoring four goals in these games. Fernando has also featured for the Brazilian national team on eight occasions since making his debut in 2012. The intense competition for the defensive midfield position in the national team limits his opportunities to make an impact at international level. Spartak Moscow will be able to benefit immensely by the presence of the 24-year-old since he has a long time still left in football.
There is news that Arsenal might be interested in Spartak Moscow winger Quincy Promes.
The latter has been playing well for some time now, and it is reported that there are a number of European clubs that might be interested in the player. Indeed last season itself Quincy Promes has managed to score 18 goals and contributed to numerous assists
Quincy Promes has stated that he is fed up of playing in Russia and that he wants to play in a better league. It is believed that Arsenal has been following the player for quite some time now and that they might be prepared to make a bid in the summer.
Arsenal who have released MatthieuFlamini, Mikel Arteta as well as Thomas Rosicky are currently short on midfield players. And it might also be possible that Theo Walcott leaves the team in the summer as he fails to establish himself as an important player in the team.
They will be hoping that Quincy Promes will provide them an additional option in their attack. Alexis Sanchez has been impressive since his move to Arsenal, and they will be hoping that having another quality winger on the other side of attack can help them improve their attack.
Porto lost to Chelsea in their last group game in Europe which saw them getting knocked out of the competition as well, but, the manager Julen Lopetegui was impressed with the fight shown by the team.
The Portuguese club had been able to secure three points facing the Blues earlier in the competition in September and they needed to do it again at Bridge on Wednesday to make sure they remain at the second position in the Group G standings. But, it wasn’t to be.
Porto could still have made the pre quarters if Dynamo Kyiv, which was at no. 3, had not downed Maccabi Tel Aviv in another Group G game going on in that same time period, but, that result did not went in their favour either.
Kyiv won and with that, they managed to overtake Porto in the standings.
While, Lopetegui appeared disappointed with the elimination, he did not look to come down hard on the players.
Talking to the media later in the evening, Lopetegui said, “If we had avoided the defeat the other day at home, the situation would not have been complicated for us coming into this game. Ten points generally prove to be sufficient for a team to advance.”
“Playing Chelsea at Bridge, it was always going to be a huge challenge. They are not an easy team to beat. We tried our best. Especially after the break, I thought we were fantastic. But, they were stronger than us on the day.” Continue reading
